Hi @picodegallo,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP printer is experiencing a couple of issues related to a potential incorrect shutdown and a paper jam. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you resolve these problems:
Proper Restart:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 1-2 minutes.
- Plug it back in and turn on the printer. This can help reset the system and potentially clear error messages related to an improper shutdown.
Check for Paper Jam:
- Open the printer covers and doors where you can access the paper path.
- Carefully remove any paper you find along the paper path. Make sure to check in hidden areas and at the back of the printer (if accessible) for small bits of paper or debris.
- Use a flashlight to check for torn pieces of paper or objects that might have accidentally fallen inside.
- After clearing the jam, make sure that the paper tray is loaded correctly and isn't overfilled.
Clean the Printer:
- While you have the printer open, it's a good opportunity to remove any dust or debris.
- Clean the rollers gently with a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water. Avoid using too much moisture.
Check Sensor and Mechanical Parts:
- Look for any visible sensors along the paper path and gently clean them with a soft brush or cloth.
- Ensure there are no loose components along the paper path that could be causing the paper jam error.
Software Reset:
- Sometimes, resetting the printer’s software can clear error states. You can usually do this through the printer’s control panel under settings.
Firmware Update:
- Check if there’s a firmware update available for your printer. You can usually find this information on the HP website under the support section for your specific printer model.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
