HP 5440 Deskjet Photp Printer
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

My HP 5440 sends paper jam messages every time I turn it on.  If I push the X (CLEAR) button, paper feeds through very nicely but no printing occurs.  I have cleaned, cleared, blown and brushed out the gears to no avail.

 

Once, I received a printed message on the laptop during a failed try at printing that the HP 5440 could not continue because my network had a metered connection.   Didn't know that it was connected in that way, so  I turned that to non-metered, but it should not have mattered as I was using my USB cable to print a doc.

 

Haven't had any problems with this printer since I got it...until now.

Just bought several remanufactured ink cartridges. but the set I am using is still HP's own.

 

Any assistance would be much appreciated.
