Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I'm afraid this could be a possible hardware failure with the printhead of the printer. Power resetting the printer, updating the printer firmware and cleaning the printhead may resolve this issue. Let us try these steps:

Step 1:  Reset the printer

1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

2. Wait at least 60 seconds.

3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Step 2: Update the printer firmware

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Step 3: Clean the printhead

Perform steps 5 and 6 from this document.

Step 4: Replace the printhead

If you have a defective cartridge or printhead, it might be under warranty. To check the warranty on your ink or toner supplies, go to Printer and Page Yield Overview, and then review the limited warranty information for your supplies.

Let me know how this goes.
