Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hello, I purchased an HP 8015e. I signed up for the free 6 months of "free" subscription.  Then paid for the subscription for a couple months to pay $7 per month to print only a few pages per month. I then canceled the subscription and ordered non HP replacement print heads. Now I am receiving an error that they are not HP and may be cloned. How do I stop the printer for blocking me from using these print heads?  Thank you

Hi @ChetinMaine,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there’s some confusion between cartridges and printheads on the HP OfficeJet 8015e. This model does not have a user-replaceable printhead. Instead, you only need to replace the ink cartridges when they run out.

If you’ve installed non-HP Ink Cartridges, that might be causing the error. However, if you’re referring to third-party ink cartridges, HP’s Dynamic Security feature may be blocking them. Here’s what you can do:

1. Check Cartridge Compatibility

  • The HP 8015e uses HP 910 or HP 910XL cartridges.
  • If you installed third-party cartridges, the printer may reject them due to firmware restrictions.

2. Try Reinstalling the Cartridges

  • Remove the cartridges and turn off the printer for 1-2 minutes.
  • Restart the printer and reinsert the cartridges carefully.
  • If the error persists, check if your printer requires a firmware update or downgrade.

3. Firmware Downgrade

  • Some firmware updates block third-party cartridges.
  • Check HP website to see if an older firmware version is available.
  • If not, you may need to use genuine HP cartridges or look for non-HP ink cartridges that have HP certified chips that can be used on the device.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
