Hi @Jmcc14,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
May I know
1. Since when are you facing this issue
2. Have you made any changes on your printer post that this issue raised and have you observed any light blinking on the display and error code
3. May I know if you are using genuine cartridges
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet 8010 All-in-One Printer not recognizing ink cartridges can be frustrating. Here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this problem:
1. Check Cartridge Compatibility
Ensure that the ink cartridges you are using are compatible with your specific printer model. The HP OfficeJet 8010 series typically uses HP 910, 910XL, or 916XL ink cartridges.
2. Inspect the Cartridges
- Protective Tape: Make sure you've removed all protective tapes from the cartridges.
- Contact Points: Check the copper-colored contact points on the cartridges and the corresponding contact points in the printer. If they are dirty, clean them gently with a lint-free cloth and distilled water or isopropyl alcohol. Ensure they are completely dry before reinserting them.
3. Reinsert the Cartridges
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the ink cartridges and reinsert them, ensuring they click into place correctly.
- Plug in the printer, turn it on, and check if the issue persists.
4. Reset the Printer
- With the printer on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the power source.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the power source and the printer.
- Turn the printer on and check if it now recognizes the cartridges.
5. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
Sometimes, updating the printer’s firmware can resolve recognition issues.
- Go to the HP Support website and download the latest firmware for your printer model.
- Follow the instructions to update the firmware.
6. Use Original HP Cartridges
Using third-party or refilled cartridges can sometimes cause recognition issues. Try using original HP cartridges if you aren’t already.
7. Check for Any Printer Errors
If the printer displays any error codes, refer to the printer manual or HP’s support website to understand the specific issue.
8. Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off the printer.
- Disconnect all cables (USB, power).
- Wait 2-3 minutes.
- Reconnect the cables and turn the printer back on.
Additional Tips:
- Reinstallation of Drivers: Sometimes, reinstalling the printer drivers on your computer can also help. Download the latest drivers from the HP Support website and reinstall them.
- Printer Alignment: After inserting new cartridges, perform a printer alignment
