HP 902 print cartridges

I just now found this site; have been having problems with the cyan cartridge - even bought a second one after the first one wouldn’t work.  So now I understand that there has been a problem for several months.  We just want to print using the black ink for now (on our 6978 printer) but evidently that’s not allowed?  This is not good- anyone know when the problem is going to be fixed with the cyan color problem?  Thanks.
