I have a color laserjet Pro MFP 3301sdw. I do taxes, but when an overlay such as "do not mail" is placed on form the printer gives me a KERNEL MissingData error. Any clues how to fix. I am using UMB wire. WIFI constantly gave errors and shut down printer.

@jim-taxman, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding a print error 3301!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The KERNEL MissingData error on your Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301sdw likely indicates an issue with how the printer processes the overlay on your tax forms. Here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve this:

Check for Firmware Updates

  • Go to HP Support Page and check if there is a firmware update available for your printer.
  • Install any updates and restart the printer

Print as an Image

  • In Adobe Acrobat:
    1. Open the Print dialog.
    2. Click on Advanced.
    3. Select Print as Image.
    4. Click OK, then print.

. Check Your USB Connection

  • Since WiFi was unstable, ensure your USB cable is high-quality and plugged directly into the PC.
  • Try a different USB port or cable.
  • If using a USB hub, connect the printer directly to the computer.

Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug it for 2 minutes.
  • Plug it back in and restart.

Check for a Printer Driver Issue

  • Go to Device Manager on your PC.
  • Expand Printers, right-click on the HP LaserJet, and Update Driver.
  • If issues persist, uninstall and reinstall the HP printer driver.
