Microsoft Windows 11

Every time I try to print a document the print is cancelled immediately

HO Smart tells me the printer is 'Ready' and I've run the troubleshooter which again says things are fin but every print goes to cancel.

I've tried stopping the Printer Spool but that did not work

Help please

Hi @ewtwetewtywetwe,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with your printer. Let's troubleshoot this step by step.

  • Restart Your Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve many printer issues. Turn off your printer, wait for a minute, and then turn it back on.
  • Check Printer Connections: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer via USB cable or connected to the same Wi-Fi network if it's a wireless printer.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause printing problems. Visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your specific printer model.
  • Clear Printer Queue: Sometimes, print jobs get stuck in the printer queue, causing subsequent prints to be cancelled. Go to your computer's printer settings, find your printer, and clear the print queue.
  • Check for Paper Jams: Even if HP Smart says the printer is ready, there might be a paper jam or some other physical issue preventing printing. Open the printer's access panels and check for any obstructions.
  • Reset Printer: If none of the above steps work, try resetting your printer to its factory settings. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer and install it. Sometimes, firmware updates address known issues and improve printer performance.
  • Try Printing from Another Device: If possible, try printing from another device to see if the issue is specific to your computer.

Hopefully, one of these steps will resolve your printing issue. Let me know if you need further assistance!

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
