Hello. I have a hp office jet pro 9010 series and suddenly all of my print jobs get stuck on the “printing…” stage in the queue and never complete. I have tried just about everything including factory reset and same problem persists. I’ve tried on multiple computers including Mac and windows, mobile devices and no luck. It will print alignment sheets and print quality reports initiated from the app but will not print any actual documents.

@Thepalaw, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your print jobs get stuck on “Printing…” and never complete, especially after trying resets and multiple devices. Let’s walk through a few targeted steps to resolve this issue.

Run HP Smart’s Diagnose & Fix Tool

This tool can automatically detect and fix common printing issues.

  • Download or open the HP Smart app: HP Smart
  • In the app:
    • On Windows, click the wrench icon (bottom left).
    • On Mac, click the printer dropdown in the top menu.
  • Select Diagnose & Fix and follow the prompts.

Reset the Printing System (macOS & Windows)

Sometimes, the print spooler or queue gets corrupted.

For Windows:

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  2. On your PC, search for Services, then right-click Print Spooler > Stop.
  3. Go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files.
  4. Restart your PC and printer.

For macOS:

  1. Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Right-click in the printer list and choose Reset printing system.
  3. Re-add your printer.

Uninstall and Reinstall the Printer

  • Remove the printer from your device.
  • Download the latest drivers or use HP Smart to reinstall.
  • Ensure you're not using AirPrint or a generic driver on macOS.

Check Network and Firmware

  • Ensure the printer is connected to the same network as your device.
  • Update the printer firmware via the HP Smart app or printer control panel.

Test with a Different Document Type

Since alignment and quality reports print fine, try printing a simple PDF or text file to rule out file-specific issues.
