Hiya
Please see jpeg below.
Would anyone be able to advise why my HP Envy 5010 printer is randomly missing out the text on borders as circled in red on here – when otherwise the print quality is good?
I am using a wifi connection, no error messages or recent changes.
I have the exact same printing error in the exact same places when printing the same document multiple times.
Thanks
Alex

You're welcome 🙂
Seems like a defective ink, I’d recommend you contact HP Phone Support in your region for a replacement if the cartridge is in warranty.
Cartridge End of date is printed on the cartridge.
Follow the instructions below to reach them:
1) Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp
2) Select your product type below.
3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences.
6)Fill the web-form and proceed further.
If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
Have a great day!

Hi @AB102,
I'd like to help!
To better assist you -
1) Does the copy print out the same way?
2) What's the application you are trying to print from? Have you tried printing from a different application or devices?
Try the below suggestions-
Open a document, photo, or webpage, click File, and then click Print to open the print dialog.
If a Show Details button displays at the bottom of the dialog, click it to reveal all available menu options. The button changes to Hide Details when clicked.
Select your printer in the Printer menu.
Select an option in the Presets menu that applies to your print job or paper type.
Click the unnamed print options menu at the separator bar to display more settings options.
Change any print job settings.
Paper size: Select the paper from the Paper Size menu on the main dialog, if present. Or, click Paper Handling, select Scale to fit paper size, and then select the paper in the Destination Paper Size men
Refer - Print Settings Guide (Mac)
If the issue persists, try the steps in the document -Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

1. Yes. I have printed out multiple Word docs / emails which have the same anomalies in the exact same areas.
2. I am printing out from Gmail. I also saved the gmail as a PDF but the exact same issue occurred.
There are no incorrect presets etc on my printer dialog box, page set-up etc.
Therefore I think it is more likely to be the printer ink carriage than an issue with print settings or apps.

Try single cartridge mode
The printer you own can work in single-cartridge mode, wherein the printer will be able to print with one cartridge in the printer.which will help us identify if its a cartridge issue or a printhead issue
To try single-cartridge mode follow the below steps:
remove the black ink from the printer, leave the color in and try printing
then remove the color ink and, insert the black in and try printing
Let me know!

Hi Jay
Appreciate your help.
It solved the problem with the black cartridge removed and using just the colour one.
Then I switched and while it didn't make the same error, just using black meant the print-out was a bit streaky.
Which is weird because the black cartridge is new and almost full, but the colour cartridge only has about a quarter left.
But I guess just using a single cartridge (especially colour) isn't something you should do continually.
Thanks
Alex
