Printer 6525 Doesn't Print Black Ink in "Fast Draft" Mode

HP Recommended
HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 6525
macOS 10.15 Catalina

My HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 6525 will now only print black ink correctly if I select PHOTO PAPER.

In PLAIN PAPER BEST, black text is faded, and in FAST DRAFT modes, the black ink does not print at all.

This is after 6 months not using the print functions.

The ink cartridges are full and confirmed genuine.

Checked all the steps including ALIGNING, CLEANING HEADS and RESTORING FACTORY DEFAULTS - same issue.

This is a strange and unusual problem because clearly it is using the black ink when I use PHOTO PAPER setting.

Any suggestions please as to why this might be happening and potential steps to resolve?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @stevemcb,

If you have already performed the steps from the document Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Hope this helps!
