Microsoft Windows 11

HP Office Jet Pro 8710 Error Codes BP388DFCE came up first shortly after attempting to change out the Blank Ink cartridge. The computer locked up and went into a start up loop ending in the error code. Unplugged the printer several times and came up with another error code C9C70000, but that code has disappeared.

Hi @mazdaratirob,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Error codes on printers like the HP Officejet Pro 8710 can indicate various issues, often related to hardware problems, ink cartridge installation, or software conflicts. Here's what you can try to resolve these issues.

  • Restart the Printer: Unplug the power cord from the printer and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn on the printer.
  • Check Ink Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed. Sometimes improper installation can cause errors. Remove the cartridges and reinsert them properly.
  • Inspect for Jammed Paper: Open the printer cover and check for any jammed paper or debris inside the printer. Clear any obstructions carefully.
  • Update Printer Firmware/Drivers: Sometimes, outdated firmware or drivers can cause errors. Check for any available updates on the HP website and install them.
  • Reset the Printer: Perform a factory reset on the printer. Refer to the printer's user manual for instructions on how to do this.
  • Check for Hardware Issues: If the issue persists, there might be a hardware problem with the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
