HP ENVY 6020e All-in-One Printer
iOS

My hp envy 6000 BA2D06 keeps saying ‘printer busy’. I have read a lot of information and according to hp support it says to disconnect from power for 60 seconds, I have done this but the printer keeps saying printer busy. Occasionally it will print one document but then it always goes back printer busy.

@RAT205, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

I understand you're experiencing a persistent "Printer Busy" message on your HP ENVY 6020e, even after performing a power reset. Let's work through a few steps to resolve this issue.

Power Reset (Hard Reset)

You've already tried this, but just to confirm:

  • With the printer on, unplug the power cord from the back.
  • Unplug it from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug it directly into a wall outlet (avoid power strips).
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer and turn it on.

Check for Pending Print Jobs

Sometimes, stuck print jobs can cause the printer to appear busy.

  • On your iOS device, open the HP Smart app. HP Smart
  • Tap on your printer > Print Queue.
  • Cancel any pending or stuck jobs.

Reset Network Settings

If the printer is stuck in a network loop, resetting the Wi-Fi settings can help:

  • Press and hold the Wi-Fi and Cancel buttons on the printer for 5 seconds until the Edge lighting flashes blue.
  • This restores Wi-Fi setup mode.

Then, re-add the printer using the HP Smart app:

  • Open the app > Tap Add Printer > Follow the prompts to reconnect.

Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause communication issues:

  • In the HP Smart app, go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings > Tools > Printer Updates.
  • Install any available updates.

Use HP Smart Diagnose & Fix (iOS)

  • Open the HP Smart app. HP Smart
  • Tap on your printer > Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Let the tool scan and resolve any issues.

Factory Reset (if issue persists)

If none of the above works:

  • Press and hold the Cancel and Wi-Fi buttons together for 10 seconds.
  • This will reset the printer to factory defaults.
  • Reconnect using the HP Smart app.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
