I have a brand new printer and got the error message "The print carriage cannot move. Open the cartridge access door, clear any paper jam or obstruction."

There is no paper in the computer. I have looked everywhere and there is no paper in there. The carriage can be moved manually. I have tried a hard reset twice and tried unplugging it when the carriage began cycling to reset it. Nothing is working.

@SGSmith2, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you are not able to print due to this error. This seems like a false error message.

Make sure you have tried the steps mentioned in these documents - Paper Jam Error and 'Carriage Jam' or 'E3' Error Displays

Now, try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue. If the printer makes a copy, the hardware is fine.

If the issue persists, I'm afraid this is a hardware failure. Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options for your printer.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
