My  15 month old printer is constantly refusing to print because "IT" claims the paper tray is empty when it is not.

It is making me crazy and delays print jobs constantly, especially if I am printing off a website. I shut it off, turn it back on, load the trays, specify tray 2 and it works a couple of times and then does not....

Any suggestions???? Please????

I understand your HP printer is repeatedly showing “Paper Tray Empty” even when trays are loaded, causing print delays. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

    a. Check Paper Tray Loading
        • Remove the paper from the tray and reload it carefully.
        • Make sure the paper stack is aligned properly and not exceeding the tray’s maximum capacity.
        • Adjust the paper guides so they lightly touch the edges of the paper without bending it.

    b. Use Recommended Paper
        • Ensure you are using HP-recommended paper and that it is not wrinkled, curled, or damp.

    c. Clean Paper Tray Sensors
        • Dust or debris on the tray sensors can trigger false empty messages.
        • Gently clean the sensors with a soft, lint-free cloth.

    d. Check for Paper Jam / Obstruction
        • Remove all paper and check for any small scraps or objects inside the tray or path.
        • Even small bits of paper can block sensors and cause false errors.

    e. Update Printer Firmware
        • On the printer control panel or via HP Smart, check for firmware updates and install them.
        • Firmware updates can resolve sensor detection and tray recognition issues.

I hope this helps.
