Hi, I have an Officejet Pro 8600 Plus. I replaced the magenta and cyan cartridges with HP 951XL cartridges and am now getting a Printer Failure message. The warranty dates on the cartridges are 2020/06, but I can hear ink in the cartridge. I have followed all HP-recommended troubleshooting directions to no avail. Is there another direction I should try?

@DeB428, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
When you encounter a Printer Failure message after replacing ink cartridges in your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus, it typically indicates a problem with the cartridges or their installation. Here are some steps you can try:
Remove and Reinsert Cartridges:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Open the ink cartridge cover and remove the cartridges.
- Inspect the cartridges for damage or leakage.
- Reinsert the cartridges ensuring they are properly seated.
- Close the cover and plug the printer back in.
Reset the Printer:
- Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer without turning off the printer.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord.
- Turn on the printer if it doesn’t turn on automatically.
Update Firmware:
- Ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can check for updates on the HP Support page.
Clean Ink Cartridge Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the ink cartridges.
- Use a lint-free cloth or cotton swab slightly moistened with distilled water to clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges.
- Allow the contacts to dry completely.
- Reinstall the cartridges and plug the printer back in.
