Hi @GRayW18,

Thank you for your reply

I understand the "Printer Failure" message on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus indicates a problem with the printer or the ink system. This error can occur due to various reasons, including issues with the printhead, ink cartridges, or internal printer components.

Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

1. Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
  • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then into the printer.
  • Turn the printer back on.

2. Check for Jammed Paper

  • Open the printer’s access doors and look for any jammed paper or debris that might be causing an obstruction.
  • Remove any paper jams carefully, ensuring no pieces are left behind.

3. Inspect the Ink Cartridges

  • Open the ink cartridge access door and check if the ink cartridges are properly installed.
  • Remove the ink cartridges and inspect them for any leaks or damage.
  • Wipe the electrical contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth to ensure good contact.
  • Reinstall the ink cartridges securely.

4. Check the Printhead

  • If the printer has a removable printhead, remove it following the instructions in the printer's user manual.
  • Clean the printhead contacts and the area inside the printer where the printhead sits with a lint-free cloth.
  • Reinstall the printhead carefully, making sure it is properly seated.

5. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for firmware updates on the HP website or through the HP Smart app.

6. Reset the Printer

  • Perform a printer reset by turning it off, unplugging it from the power source for a minute, then plugging it back in and turning it on.

7. Test with Different Cartridges

  • If possible, try using different genuine HP cartridges to rule out the possibility of faulty ink cartridges.

8. Perform a Factory Reset

  • If the above steps do not resolve the issue, you can try performing a factory reset on the printer. This will reset all settings to default. Refer to the printer manual or HP support for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
