HI @Fneatfreak,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A "Printer Failure" error can be quite concerning. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
Steps to Resolve "Printer Failure" Error:
Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and the printer.
- Turn on the printer and check if the error persists.
Check for Obstructions:
- Open the printer and check for any paper jams, obstructions, or foreign objects inside the printer. Clear any obstructions you find.
Reset the Printer:
- Perform a hard reset by turning off the printer, unplugging it, waiting for 60 seconds, and then plugging it back in and turning it on.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest firmware for your printer model.
Check Ink Cartridges:
- Ensure the ink cartridges are installed correctly. Remove and reinstall them, making sure they click into place securely.
- Clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and the printer using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol. Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinstalling the cartridges.
Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool. This utility can help diagnose and fix many common printing problems.
Inspect the Printer for Damage:
- Check the printer for any visible signs of damage or wear and tear. If the printer is physically damaged, it may need professional repair.
Perform a System Reset:
- Some HP printers allow for a system reset through the printer's control panel. Check the printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform a system reset.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
