My HP ENVY Photo7155 Printer froze upon boot up on the logo screen, with only the first bullet out of the seven blue, the status bar fully blue and then …nothing - frozen.
I tried pulling the power cord from the back of the unit, waited 60sec, plugged it back in, then restarted: same thing, frozen.
Tried removing the ink cartridges, the power cord from both the unit and the wall, waited 60sec, plugged it all back in - still got to the same point and froze.
Unsure what to try next - help!

Hi @DABDDS,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I'm sorry to hear about your HP ENVY Photo 7155 freezing during startup—it must be incredibly frustrating when your printer won't get past the logo screen. Let’s work together to figure out what’s causing this and how to resolve it.
- Did the issue start after a specific event, such as a firmware update or power outage?
- Have there been any recent changes to the printer’s setup, like new cartridges or updates via the HP Smart app?
- Is the printer connected to your network during startup, or is it in offline mode?
Let's try these steps.
Perform a Partial Reset:
- Disconnect the power cord and wait for 2-3 minutes.
- While plugging the printer back in, press and hold the Cancel button until the printer powers on.
- This performs a basic reset that doesn’t erase network or configuration settings.
Boot Without Network Connection:
- Disconnect your Wi-Fi router or disable the network the printer is connected to.
- Turn on the printer to see if it boots past the logo screen. If it does, reconnect the network afterward through the HP Smart app.
Enter Printer Recovery Mode:
- With the printer off, press and hold the Wi-Fi and Back buttons simultaneously.
- While holding, reconnect the power cord and turn the printer on.
- Release the buttons when the recovery menu appears. From here, you can attempt to reset or update the firmware.
Update the Firmware (if possible):
- If the printer boots in recovery mode, connect it to a computer and use the HP Smart app or HP’s website to check for firmware updates.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install any updates.
Perform a Full Reset (Factory Reset):
- If none of the above work, perform a factory reset:
- Turn off the printer.
- Hold the Power and Cancel buttons together for 5 seconds, then release them.
- The printer will reset to factory settings. Reconfigure it as needed using the HP Smart app.
If the printer remains stuck, it could be a deeper hardware or firmware issue. In that case, contacting HP Support directly for repair might be the next step.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
