Printer HP4636 will not power on.

HP Recommended
HP4636 All in One
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and older

The HP4636 (All in One)  printer will not power on.

Printer was working fine for some years, however after a power down the printer will not power up anymore .

Also the  lights on the frontpanel remain off.

Finaly I have checked the power unit inside the printer and it seems okay. I measured 32 Volts and also 12 Volts after

connecting pin 2 and 3. This is how it should work, so the power unit seems okay.

What can be done ?

Hi @HarryTigger,

I'd like to help!

Let's try a power reset on the printer

Reset the product

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Wait at least 60 seconds.

Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

Reconnect the power cord to the printer.

Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Also, try updating the printer's firmware -HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

If the issue persists, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your printer

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you for the feedback

Your first sentence:

"With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer."

The problem is however, the printer cannot be turned on! So your solution wil not work

Problem It started as follows:

1  The printer was switched ON

2  Printer refused to print.

3  I went into the menu (on the printer) but everything was locked nothing could be done anymore

4  So I decided to pull the power cord.

5  Hereafter the printer will not switch on.

6  Checked already the power unit inside and this seems okay.

Sofar I tried many combinations of powering on simultaneously pushing different switches on the printer panel.

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences.

6)Fill the web-form and proceed further.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty.
