HP OfficeJet Pro 8025 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

OK, I barley use this printer and like an idiot, I ap in the ink program. Just recently the printer shows a print head error. It shows up when I have not printed anything. I have power cycled the printer and it is gone for a while, but reappears without me even printing a single document. I noticed that when this started it was right about the same time my printer was automatically upgraded to the latest FW.

I have printed a grand total of 3 pages since March 16th

5 since January 2025

and 105 pages since I got the printer.

Any thoughts on the issue or should I just consider this typical HP?

@RScalzo, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Printhead Errors on HP OfficeJet Pro 8025!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Experiencing a printhead error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025 can be frustrating, especially if you're not printing frequently. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the printer and clear temporary errors.

Remove, Inspect, and Reinsert the Ink Cartridges:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove the ink cartridges and inspect them for any signs of damage or leakage.
  • Clean the contacts with a lint-free cloth moistened with distilled water.
  • Reinsert the ink cartridges securely.

Clean the Printhead:

  • From the printer control panel, navigate to the cleaning options.
  • Execute a "Clean Printhead" function to ensure no dried ink or debris is causing the error.

Firmware Update:

  • Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes a new firmware update can resolve underlying issues. You can check for updates through the HP Support Assistant.

Alignment Test:

  • Run an alignment test from the printer’s control panel. This can ensure the printhead nozzles are correctly aligned.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
