My printer, ENVY 6458e will not copy in color.  The cartridges are new.  I can scan in color, but not copy.  What should I do?

If your HP ENVY 6458e is having trouble copying in color despite having new cartridges and being able to scan in color, try the following troubleshooting steps.

 

Check Copy Settings:

  • Make sure the copy settings are configured for color copying. On the printer’s control panel, select "Copy" and look for an option to choose color or black & white. Ensure color is selected.

Update Firmware:

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Go to the HP website and check for any available firmware updates for your model.

Print Quality Diagnostic:

  • Run a print quality diagnostic or print head alignment from the printer’s settings menu to ensure that all colors are being correctly recognized and printed.

Printer Software:

  • Make sure you’re using the latest version of the HP software on your computer. Sometimes software issues can affect the copying functions.

Clean Printheads:

  • Perform a printhead cleaning. This can usually be done from the printer’s maintenance menu. Follow the on-screen instructions to clean the printheads and then try copying again.

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the cartridges are properly installed. Sometimes, removing and reinserting the cartridges can resolve issues.

Reset Printer:

  • Try resetting the printer to its factory settings. This can often resolve issues caused by incorrect settings or configurations.
