My printer seems to have stopped working because I'm not signed up for an all in one ink plan. What the heck is going on? There's no way that a printer company can expect that someone will automatically sign up to buy their ink, or else they will throw an error and keep the printer from being able to work. How can this be?

Hi @JAbbo24,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I truly understand how upsetting and confusing it must be to see your printer stop working just because you're not enrolled in HP Instant Ink. That’s not the experience we want you to have.
Let me clarify what’s happening and how we can help you get back to printing.
How to Fix It
Option 1: Reactivate Instant Ink
- Sign in to your account at HP Instant Ink Service | HP® Support
- Update your payment method or reactivate your plan
- Printing should resume within 30 minutes
Option 2: Switch to Standard HP Cartridges
- Purchase regular HP cartridges compatible with your printer
- Remove the Instant Ink cartridges and install the new ones
- Your printer will work without needing a subscription
📝 Note: HP+ printers may still require an internet connection and Web Services to function properly, even with standard cartridges.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
