HP Envy Photo

The instructions don't say if my printer has a "sleep mode".  Also - is it okay to leave my printer on all the time?

What printer model?  There are a number of HP Envy Photo printers, but they all have a power saving sleep mode the printer automatically enters after about fifteen minutes.  See here for an example of the Envy Photo 7800 series printers.

I would recommend keeping the printer plugged in and turned on all the time.

Thank you.  My HP Envy Photo is model 7855.  I'd like to just leave it on.  Also - do you recommend using my internet wifi or the wifi direct?  I'm not sure what the pros and cons are of each option.  Thank you for your help.

HP Recommended

I would suggest connecting via the internet wifi.  If you use WiFi Direct the printer and computer are connected to each other, but your computer is no longer connected to the internet.   The document here says "Use Wi-Fi Direct if connecting through a local Wi-Fi network is not an option or for guest printing".

For most users Wi-Fi direct is not the answer....
