OfficeJet Pro 6970

HP officeJet Pro 6970, printer can scan, but cannot print.  It has a new ink cartridge.  On the printer, at Setting (gear), there is no Printer Maintenance option now.  It only shows Schedule/Info. Then Update Print App.  If I select it, it said The list of print apps on this printer cannot be updated.

I have done deep cleaning 2 times through my computer driver setting.

Hi @Fanny14,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF or web pages and check if the issue persists?

Update the MS Word application if the issue is only with this app. You may also reinstall it if required.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.

If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.

Clean reinstallation of Pre-installed HP drivers

  1.  In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
  2.  Select your HP Printer
  3.  Select Uninstall
  4.  In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
  5.  In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
  6.  Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
  7.  Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
  8.  Click on the “Drivers” tab
  9.  Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
  10.  Select Ok
  11.  Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
  12.  Close Devices and Printers, restart the computer.

CLICK HERE o download the HP Full-featured driver.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Try printing.

Thank you for your detailed suggestions.  I have done part of the steps, printing various file types, cleaning the printhead, doing the steps recommended by the diagnostic doctor and I still get a blank page when I print out the document following the steps.  I have not done reinstalling the Drivers yet.  I am in the middle of an important project that needs me to scan in documentation to share with different parties.  At least the scanning function works.  I would wait until the project is done before I delete and reinstall the driver.  I would be helpless if the scanning function also becomes non-reponsive because of the reinstallation of the driver.

When I get to the stage where I can reinstall the driver, I shall definitely let you know about the results.

Your advice is deeply appreciated.  It gives me hope.

Best regards,

Fanny
