Hi @DianeJL,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it is when your HP printer cancels print jobs even though it's connected and test prints work fine. You're doing everything right by checking the queue and connectivity. Let’s walk through a few targeted steps to resolve this.

Step-by-Step Fix for Print Jobs Cancelling Automatically

1. Clear the Print Queue and Restart the Print Spooler

Sometimes the spooler service gets stuck:

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Find Print Spooler, right-click, and choose Stop.
  • Go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files.
  • Go back to Services, right-click Print Spooler, and choose Start.

2. Check Default Printer Settings

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Make sure your HP printer is set as the default.
  • Remove any virtual printers like HP Smart Print-to-PDF or Microsoft XPS Document Writer if not needed.

3. Reinstall the Printer Driver

Even if the printer is connected, a corrupted driver can cause job cancellations:

  • Go to Official HP® Support.
  • Download the Full Software Solution for your printer.
  • Uninstall the printer from Settings > Printers & scanners, then reinstall using the downloaded package.

4. Check for HP Smart App Conflicts

  • If you're printing from HP Smart, try printing directly from another app (Word, PDF viewer).
  • Sometimes HP Smart redirects jobs incorrectly or cancels them due to account sync issues.

5. Run HP App

This tool can automatically detect and fix issues: 🔗 HP App – For HP Printers, Laptops, and Tech Accessories | HP® Official Site

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
