I am getting an error message that my Yellow cartridge is damaged.  I have done all of the recommended steps to fix, including replacing the cartridge, on/off with power supply disconnect and cleaning the electronic connections (as best I can on this model). No dice.  Anything else that might work?

Hi @Fabartist,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you've tried replacing the cartridge, powering off and on with the power supply disconnected, and cleaning the electronic connections without success, here are a few more steps you can try:

Reset the Printer: Sometimes a deeper reset can help clear persistent error messages. This often involves more than just turning the printer off and on. Check your printer's manual for instructions on performing a full or factory reset.

Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes printer errors can be resolved through firmware updates. Visit the HP website to see if there are any updates available for your printer model and follow the instructions to update the firmware.

Inspect the Cartridge and Printer Contacts Again: Since the issue persists even after cleaning the contacts, inspect them once more to ensure there's no debris, dust, or damage. If the contacts on the printer or the cartridge seem damaged or excessively worn, it might require professional servicing.

Try a Different Cartridge Brand: If you're using third-party cartridges, consider trying an OEM cartridge or a different brand. Some printers are sensitive to third-party cartridges and might not function correctly even if the cartridges are not technically faulty.

Check for Internal Issues: Look inside the printer for any loose debris or ink spills that might be interfering with the operation. Be sure to do this with the printer powered off and unplugged.

Consult the Printer's Diagnostic Tools: Many printers come with built-in diagnostics that you can run to check for hardware issues. Access these through the printer menu or a connected computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
