My printer continuously jams with paper, even if it's one page. I tried removing all the paper and I'm still getting a paper jam error message. I've looked inside the printer and I don't see any paper jam. As soon as I put any paper into it, it jams. I've tried turning the printer on and off again several times, with and without paper in the feed. Don't know what to do at this point. Help!

@A-Rob2010,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,

Are you able to move the carriage freely?

Have you tried to clean the paper feed rollers manually?

Let's try these steps here:

Perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Please ensure you have followed all the steps suggested in this support document for - HP DeskJet 2540 Printers - Attention Light Blinks (Paper Jam)

If you have followed the steps suggested and still having the issue. I would personally suggest this could be a possible hardware failure with the printer.

I would recommend you contact our HP support team for further assistance.
