I'd appreciate some help with the following issue: When I try to print the following message is displayed: "A problem has occurred and you will be unable to print until the issue is resolved. Check your HP account for more information."

What do I do next? I didn't have an HP account, so I opened one. Now I'm stuck.

Hi @Gerhard221,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

This error typically occurs when the printer detects an issue with your HP Instant Ink subscription or if there is an unresolved issue with the printer's account status. Here’s how to troubleshoot and resolve it.

Verify Your HP Account and Subscription

  1. Log in to your HP account:
  2. Check your subscription status:
    • Navigate to the My Printers or My Account section.
    • Look for any alerts related to your HP Instant Ink subscription or printer status.
    • Ensure your payment method is up-to-date if you're using HP Instant Ink.

Restart Your Printer and Check for Updates

  1. Restart the printer:
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    • Wait for 1-2 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  2. Update the printer firmware:
    • Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
    • Enter your printer model and download the latest firmware updates.

Re-enable Your Printer in HP Account

  1. Go to the My Printers section in your HP account.
  2. If your printer is not listed:
    • Add it using the printer's serial number or an automatic detection tool.
  3. If your printer is listed but shows a warning or error:
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to resolve the issue.

Disable Instant Ink Temporarily (Optional)

If the issue is tied to your Instant Ink subscription, you can disable it temporarily:

  1. Log into your HP account.
  2. Navigate to Instant Ink settings.
  3. Cancel or suspend your subscription (if applicable).

Reset Your Printer to Factory Defaults

  1. Locate the Settings or Setup menu on your printer's control panel.
  2. Select Restore Defaults or Reset Settings.
  3. Reconnect your printer to your WiFi and re-add it to your HP account.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
