HP LaserJet M110we Printer

Trying to connect my HP LaserJet M110we printer to Wi-Fi. Earlier it worked fine, suddenly it's lost the connection. All the lights are mostly blinking, at the moment only the ! is blinking, the power light and wi-fi light are turned on. The computer cannot find the printer (I deleted all as it was 3 times in the computer). It prints only the test pages. Otherwise it says there's no connection to wifi and you have to make sure your computer and printer are connected to the same network. Where do I check this out? I've been fighting this for weeks. Earlier when I had the same problem it suddenly just started to print but now it's back. Windows 11 loaded last weekend, Windows 10 had the same problem.

Hi @Timojii,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing intermittent connectivity issues with your HP LaserJet M110we printer. To troubleshoot this issue and ensure both the printer and your computer are connected to the same network, follow these steps.

Check Printer's Network Connection

  • Printer Control Panel: Check the printer's Wi-Fi status directly on the printer's control panel. If the Wi-Fi light is on but blinking, it could mean the printer is trying to reconnect or is having trouble establishing a stable connection.
  • Network Configuration: You can print a network configuration page from the printer:
    1. On the printer, press and hold the Wi-Fi button until the light starts blinking.
    2. Then, press the Information button to print the network configuration page.
    3. This will show you the printer's current network settings, including whether it is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
  • If the network page shows that it's not connected to your Wi-Fi network, you'll need to reconnect the printer.

Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi

  • If the printer is not connected to Wi-Fi, you can try to set it up again:
    1. On the printer's control panel, press the Wi-Fi button.
    2. Follow the instructions on the printer’s display to connect it to your Wi-Fi network. You'll need your Wi-Fi credentials (SSID and password).
  • If you're using HP Smart App:
    • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or smartphone.
    • Select Add Printer and follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect your printer.

Ensure the Computer and Printer are on the Same Network

  • Check Wi-Fi Network: Make sure that your computer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer. If you're using dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), ensure both devices are on the same band.
    • On your computer, check the Wi-Fi settings by clicking the Wi-Fi icon in the taskbar and confirming the network name.
    • On your printer’s network configuration page, ensure the printer is connected to the same network (SSID).

Restart Devices

  • Restart Printer: Power cycle the printer by turning it off, waiting for 10-15 seconds, and turning it back on.
  • Restart Router: Power cycle your router by unplugging it for 10-15 seconds and plugging it back in.
  • Restart Computer: Restart your computer to ensure it picks up any changes after the printer is connected.

Reinstall Printer on Computer

  • Remove Printer from Windows:
    1. Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
    2. Select your printer and click Remove Device.
  • Re-add Printer:
    1. Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners and click Add a Printer or Scanner.
    2. Select your printer from the list and follow the prompts to reinstall it.

Ensure Printer Driver is Updated

  • Sometimes, driver issues can cause connectivity problems, especially after an OS update. Make sure the printer driver is up to date by going to the HP Support website and downloading the latest driver for your printer.

Check for Windows 11 Compatibility Issues

  • Since your system was recently updated to Windows 11, there could be compatibility issues. Make sure all your system drivers, including network and printer drivers, are up to date. Check for any updates through Windows Update and install all recommended updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanx. But it won't work whatever I try. The ! is blinking and HP Smart says the printes is offline. The HP report that the printer prints says "Printer cannot print. A problem has occurred and you will be unable to print except for printer reports, until the issue is resolved. Check your HP account for more information..." However, the HP account only says I have to fix something but doesn't tell what so I'm quite confused with it. Should I know myself what's wrong in the HP account? Network name (SSID) is the same in the computer and the printer. Wifi signal "very good". The computer connects to another printer fine.

Hi @Timojii,

Thank you for your response,

It seems like your HP LaserJet M110we printer is having a network-related issue or an internal configuration problem that prevents it from going online. Here’s a more advanced troubleshooting guide.

Factory Reset the Printer

  • Steps:
    • Power off the printer.
    • Turn it back on while holding down the Wi-Fi button and Cancel button until the lights flash.
    • The printer will reset and require reconfiguration.

Reconfigure Wi-Fi Connection

  • Use the HP Smart App to reconnect the printer:
    1. Open the HP Smart app on your computer or smartphone.
    2. Select Add Printer.
    3. Follow the setup prompts to reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi.
  • Important Note: Ensure your printer is on the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band, as many HP printers don't support 5 GHz.

Disable Smart Features

If you’re using HP Smart features or Instant Ink services, disabling them can sometimes help:

  1. Go to the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS):
    • Print a network configuration page (hold Information button on the printer).
    • Note the IP address listed.
    • Enter the IP address into a browser on your computer.
  2. In EWS, disable features like Instant Ink or advanced security settings temporarily.
  3. Save changes and restart the printer.

Check for Firmware Updates

Outdated firmware can cause connectivity issues:

  • Log in to the HP Support site.
  • Download and install the latest firmware for your printer model.
  • Use the HP Smart app to check for firmware updates.

Fix Account-Related Errors

The error message suggests checking your HP account:

  • Log in to HP Smart.
  • Look for notifications or actions under My Printers.
  • If there’s a subscription issue (like Instant Ink), ensure the billing is up-to-date.

Advanced Network Troubleshooting

  • Assign a Static IP:
    • In the Embedded Web Server (EWS), assign a static IP address to the printer.
    • Update your router’s settings to reserve this IP for the printer.
  • Disable Wi-Fi Direct:
    • Ensure Wi-Fi Direct is disabled to prevent conflicts with regular network connections.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

This tool can diagnose and fix many connectivity issues:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor.

Check Windows Services

Ensure necessary services are running:

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Check the following services are running and set to Automatic:
    • Print Spooler
    • Device Install Service
    • Function Discovery Resource Publication

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for all the advice. I don't understand half of them though.

Where do I find this: "In EWS, disable features like Instant Ink or advanced security settings temporarily."? I found the EWS but can't find instant ink etc. there.

Oh, I've been trying to update the printer's firmware but it doesn't seem to connect to the printer saying something about printer's offline or things like that. The ! is still blinking all the time when the printer is turned on no matter what I do.

I'll have to print all these instructions with another printer and try them next weekend again.
