Product: HP OfficeJet 5255 All-in-One Printer

The front piece of the printer door is broken. The piece that goes on the paper tray. Error message keeps saying closed the door, but that piece is broken off. Printer won’t print. What can I do?

I have a few questions:

 

If you hold the door in place, does the message go away?

What model of printer do you have?

 

Can you attached a picture of the part that is broken?

It's possible that part may trip a flag or a sensor that tells the printer that the door is closed.

This is going off unknown factors, of course, but If this is the case, you may, as a temporary measure, be able to put something  in place to tell the printer the door is closed.
