@Janina63, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're having trouble with your HP DeskJet 2710 All-in-One Printer, and it's showing a message or behavior like "flushing envelope with a drop" — which is definitely unusual and not a standard error message.

Let’s try to make sense of this and get your printer working again. Could you clarify a few things to help troubleshoot better?

Quick Questions:

What exactly do you see or hear? Is "flushing envelope with a drop" displayed on the screen, or is it something you're interpreting from a sound or action the printer makes?

Are you trying to print an envelope? Or were you printing something else when this happened?

Are there any blinking lights or error codes on the printer?

Has the printer recently jammed or had a paper issue?

While you answer that! Please try these steps,

Check for Paper Jams or Debris

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open all accessible doors (input tray, output tray, cartridge access area).
  • Carefully check for:
  1. Stuck envelope or paper
  2. Loose ink droplets or smears
  3. Small bits of torn paper

Reset the Printer

  • Disconnect the power cord from the printer (with it still ON).
  • Unplug it from the wall.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect and turn it back on.

Run a Print Test

  • Once it powers up, try printing a plain text document (not an envelope).
  • Does it feed the paper properly? Any strange noises?

Check Ink Cartridge Area

  • Open the cartridge door and ensure cartridges are seated properly.
  • Look for any ink buildup or drops inside.

Use HP Smart App or HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • If you’re on a PC, download HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  • If you're using a phone/tablet, use the HP Smart App to check for printer status, firmware updates, or ink problems.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
