Have had "Printer failure: 0x61011bed" message for days now. Have followed all suggestions (reset printer, updated Firmware, and removed printer from PC and then reinstalled software and device). Carriage does not seem to be stuck as moves during reset. Please advise!
I think the message first appeared after replacing a cartridge.

@BckyRssll, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Inspect the Ink Cartridge and Printhead:
- Remove the Cartridge(s): Double-check that the protective tape has been fully removed, the cartridge is properly seated, and there’s no visible damage or misalignment.
- Check the Printhead: Ensure the printhead is clean, free from ink buildup, and the contacts are clear. Use a lint-free cloth and a bit of distilled water or isopropyl alcohol to gently clean both the printhead and cartridge contacts.
Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power outlet for at least 5 minutes. This can reset the printer's internal system.
- Plug it back in, turn it on, and check if the error persists.
Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions:
- Open all accessible parts of the printer (cartridge access, rear access, etc.) to ensure there’s no paper jam or debris blocking the paper path or the cartridge movement.
- If you find any obstruction, carefully remove it, and then power cycle the printer again.
Perform a Partial Printer Reset:
- With the printer on, unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall.
- Wait for 30 seconds to 1 minute, then reconnect the power and turn the printer back on to see if the error clears.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Visit the printer’s manufacturer website (e.g., HP) and see if there’s a firmware update available for your model. Outdated firmware can sometimes cause issues.
Inspect the Carriage Path:
- Ensure the ink cartridge carriage can move freely. If it's stuck, gently move it back and forth to help loosen it.
Try a Different Cartridge:
- If the issue started after installing a new cartridge, it might be defective. Try re-installing the old cartridge (if it was still working) to check if the error resolves.
Test on Another Computer:
- Connect the printer to a different computer to rule out any software or driver conflicts with the original system.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cable.
- Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
- Reconnect the power and turn the printer on to see if the issue is resolved.
I hope these steps help resolve the issue
