Hi @joev1950,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer is displaying an error message and rebooting it multiple times has not resolved the issue, there are additional steps you can take to try and clear the error. Here’s a more detailed troubleshooting guide to help resolve the issue with your HP printer:

Detailed Troubleshooting Steps

1. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Press the power button to turn off the printer.Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outletWait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and the printer.Turn on the printer and check if the error has cleared.

2. Check for Paper Jams and Obstructions

  • Open all accessible panels and paper trays.Look for and remove any paper jams or foreign objects.
  • Ensure there are no small pieces of paper stuck in the document feeder.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to clean the paper feed rollers.

3. Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults

  • Navigate to the settings or setup menu on the printer’s control panel. This option may be under maintenance or tools, depending on your printer model.Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the printer to factory settings.

4. Update Printer Firmware

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page.Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update.Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

5. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Press the power button to turn off the printer.Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.Open the ink cartridge access door.Remove each ink cartridge and reinsert them.Ensure they are properly seated.
  • Plug the power cord back in.Turn on the printer and check if the error is cleared.

6. Check for Software Issues

  • Uninstall the current printer drivers from your computer.Download and install the latest drivers from the HP website.
  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool to diagnose and fix common printing and scanning problems.

7. Check for Network Issues (if applicable)

  • Ensure your printer is properly connected to your Wi-Fi network.Restart your router and reconnect your printer to the network.:
  • Print a network configuration page from the printer’s control panel.Ensure the printer has a valid IP address and is connected to the network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
