Hi @Bill9_17

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer shows a "printer failure" message as soon as it’s turned on, here are some steps to help diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Check Power Supply

  • Ensure that the printer is plugged into a working electrical outlet.
  • Check the power cable for any damage or loose connections.

2. Disconnect and Reconnect

  • Unplug the printer from the power source for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on to see if the error persists.

3. Inspect for Paper Jams

  • Open the printer and check for any paper jams or obstructions. Remove any stuck paper carefully.

4. Check Ink Cartridges

  • Ensure that the ink cartridges are installed correctly and that there’s no protective tape still attached.
  • If possible, try removing and reinstalling the cartridges.

5. Perform a Hard Reset

  • If your printer has a reset option, refer to the user manual for instructions on performing a hard reset.

6. Update Printer Firmware

  • If you can access the printer settings, check for any firmware updates. Sometimes updates can fix bugs or errors.

7. Connect via USB

  • If you’re using a wireless connection, try connecting the printer directly to your computer using a USB cable. This can help determine if the issue is network-related.

8. Check for Error Codes

  • If your printer displays an error code or specific message along with the failure, take note of it. Look it up in the user manual or on the manufacturer’s website for specific troubleshooting steps.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
