I have an HP Envy 5055 printer and it's stuck on boot up. It won't go past 2 dots. I've tried unplugging and replugging it multiple times.

Hi @tanthony1111,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Envy 5055 printer is stuck on startup and won't go past the initial boot screen with 2 dots, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then into the printer.
  • Turn the printer on and see if it completes the startup process.

Reset the Printer:

  • With the printer on, unplug the power cord from the printer.
  • Disconnect any USB cables or network cables (if connected).
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the printer and turn it on.
  • Reconnect any USB or network cables after the printer starts up completely.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • Open the printer and check for any paper jams or obstructions.
  • Ensure that the ink cartridges are installed correctly and that there is no debris inside the printer.

Firmware Update:

  • If the printer starts up but is not functioning properly, check the HP website for any firmware updates.
  • Download and install the firmware update according to the instructions provided on the HP support site.

Factory Reset:

  • If the printer menu is accessible, navigate to the settings and look for a factory reset option.
  • Note that a factory reset will restore the printer to its original settings and may erase any custom settings or network configurations.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
