Error message on printer:

Load Tray  1. Plain Letter or Pres (OK) to use available media.

I have standard paper in my printer.  When I press OK, it prints 1 page of the last item, then same error message appears.  If I press the OK again, it will again print the same 1 page.

I have deleted it and re-installed with no luck.  I have shut my computer down and restarted with no luck.   Help please!

Hi @GE64

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your printer is having trouble recognizing the paper in Tray 1. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the "Load Tray 1 Plain Letter" error:

1. Check Paper Size Settings

  • Paper Size: Make sure the paper size set in the printer matches the paper loaded in Tray 1. If you're using letter-sized paper, ensure that it is selected in both the printer settings and the print settings on your computer.

2. Reinsert the Paper

  • Reload the Tray: Remove the paper from Tray 1, check for any jams or obstructions, and then reload it. Ensure the paper guides are snug against the paper stack without bending it.

3. Check for Paper Quality

  • Paper Type: Ensure that the paper is standard copy paper and not damaged or curled. Also, check that it isn’t too thick or too thin for your printer’s specifications.

4. Reset Printer Settings

  • Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it for a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear minor errors.

5. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check this on the HP Support website.

6. Print a Configuration Page

  • If possible, print a configuration page directly from the printer to ensure it’s functioning properly and can recognize the media.

7. Clear Print Queue

  • Make sure there are no stuck print jobs in the queue. Clear the print queue on your computer and try printing again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
