Hi @RickKaser,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand that you are having issues with the Printer head error code 0xc19a0015.

Error code 0xc19a0015 on an HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-In-One Printer typically indicates an issue with the printhead. Here are steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this error:

1. Reset the Printer

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and power it on.
  • Check if the error persists.

2. Check Ink Cartridges

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove and reinstall the ink cartridges to ensure they are properly seated.
  • Make sure the cartridges are not empty and are genuine HP cartridges.

3. Clean the Printhead

  • If possible, perform a printhead cleaning from the printer's control panel:
    • Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.
  • You can also manually clean the printhead contacts with a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water.

4. Update Printer Firmware

  • Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. Visit the HP Support website to download and install any available firmware updates.

5. Perform a Semi-Full Reset

  • A semi-full reset can help clear certain error codes:
    • With the printer on, unplug the power cord from the printer.
    • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    • Wait for 60 seconds.
    • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then into the printer.
    • Turn the printer back on.

Kindly check the next set of steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi @RickKaser,

Please find the next set of steps below.

6. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows)

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from the HP Support website.
  • This tool can diagnose and fix many common printing and scanning problems.

7. Check for Obstructions

  • Ensure there is no paper jam or obstruction in the printer that might be causing the error.
  • Carefully check the inside of the printer for any debris.

8. Inspect the Printhead Assembly

  • If you are comfortable, you can remove the printhead assembly and inspect it for any visible issues.
  • Refer to the printer’s manual for instructions on how to safely remove and reinstall the printhead.

You may also refer to this document for more information

  • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, the printhead may be defective or there might be a more serious hardware problem.
  • Contact HP Support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
