Hi, unpacked my new printer, filled ink, but can’t add printer head as it’s not moving to the middle.

Hi @TP83,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your printer might be experiencing a mechanical issue preventing the printhead from moving to the center where you can access it easily. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Power Cycle: Turn off the printer, wait for a few minutes, and then turn it back on. Sometimes, this simple step can reset the printer's internal mechanisms and resolve minor issues.
  • Check for Obstructions: Make sure there are no obstructions blocking the movement of the printhead. Look inside the printer for any paper jams, loose objects, or pieces of packaging material that might be hindering the movement.
  • Manual Printhead Movement: Some printers allow you to manually move the printhead by gently pushing it to the center. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this safely.
  • Software Troubleshooting: Sometimes, issues with printhead movement can be related to software or firmware glitches. Check for any firmware updates for your printer model and install them if available. You can also try reinstalling the printer drivers on your computer.

Remember to handle your printer carefully and avoid applying excessive force when attempting to troubleshoot the issue to prevent any further damage.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
