Hi @LeAnn1980,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When your HP Envy 7645 printer is in an error state, it can be due to several issues, such as connectivity problems, paper jams, or software conflicts. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Restart Your Printer:
- Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
Check for Paper Jams:
- Open all compartments of the printer and check for any paper that might be stuck.
- Remove any jammed paper carefully, ensuring there are no torn pieces left inside.
Check Ink Cartridges:
- Make sure the ink cartridges are properly installed.
- If they are low on ink, consider replacing them.
Check Printer Connectivity:
- If your printer is connected via USB, try unplugging and replugging the cable or using a different USB port.
- If it's connected wirelessly, ensure that the printer is connected to the same network as your computer. You can try disconnecting and reconnecting to the network.
Clear the Print Queue:
- Go to your computer's "Devices and Printers" or "Printers & Scanners" settings.
- Right-click on your HP Envy 7645 and select "See what's printing."
- Cancel any print jobs in the queue.
Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:
- Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your HP Envy 7645 printer.
- Uninstall the existing printer drivers from your computer, then reinstall the updated drivers.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool, which can automatically detect and resolve issues with your printer.
Reset the Printer to Factory Settings:
- As a last resort, you can reset the printer to its factory settings. This will clear any custom settings but might resolve persistent errors.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
