Hi @moniquecaprice,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The blinking power button on your HP DeskJet 2742e All-in-One Printer typically indicates a connectivity issue, particularly if the printer is no longer connected to your Wi-Fi network. This might happen for several reasons, such as changes in your network settings or interference with the Wi-Fi signal.

Here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

Restart Printer and Router

  • Turn off both your printer and router.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds, then turn your router back on.
  • Turn the printer on once the router is fully restarted.

Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi

  • Press and hold the Wireless button (or Wi-Fi icon) on your printer until the light starts blinking.
  • On your computer or mobile device, open the HP Smart app.
  • Select Add Printer and follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi.

Reset Network Settings

  • If the above steps don’t work, you may need to reset the printer’s network settings.
  • To reset: Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons together for 5 seconds. This will restore network settings to default.
  • After resetting, use the HP Smart app to reconnect the printer to your network.

Check Wi-Fi Signal

  • Ensure the printer is within range of the router and there are no obstructions or interference from other devices.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Using the HP Smart app, check if there are any firmware updates for your printer and install them if necessary.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
