My printer has a 905E01FE problem when I troubleshooted the printer holding down the copy setting buttons. The printer is idle on the computer but, when I go to print the jobs, it just loads a percentage of a number and does not print the page. The printer is loaded with paper and ink and the sample sheet prints out just fine. How do I solve this problem?

Hi @jackieperry99,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your printer is encountering an error code 905E01FE and isn't processing print jobs despite being connected and showing as online. This issue can be frustrating, but let's go through some steps to troubleshoot and resolve it:

Steps to Resolve Error Code 905E01FE and Print Job Issues

Restart the Printer

  • Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on. This will often resolve temporary communication issues.

Check Printer Connection

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer via USB or network connection, depending on your setup.
  • If using a network connection, check that the printer's IP address hasn't changed and that it's still connected to the network.

Clear Print Queue

  • Sometimes print jobs can get stuck in the print queue, causing new jobs not to print. Here’s how to clear the print queue:
    • On your computer, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers (or Printers & Scanners).
    • Right-click on your printer and select See what's printing.
    • In the print queue window, click Printer at the top-left corner.
    • Select Cancel All Documents and confirm to clear the queue.

Update Printer Drivers

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause communication problems.
  • Visit the printer manufacturer's website (e.g., HP, Canon) to download and install the latest drivers specific to your printer model and operating system.

Check for Software Conflicts

  • Sometimes third-party software or firewall settings can interfere with printing. Temporarily disable any firewall or security software and try printing again to see if the issue persists.

Run Printer Troubleshooter

  • Use the built-in printer troubleshooter on your computer to diagnose and automatically fix common printing problems.
    • Go to Control Panel > Troubleshooting > View all.
    • Select Printer and follow the prompts to run the troubleshooter.

Reset the Print System (Mac)

  • If you're using a Mac and encountering this issue, resetting the print system can often help:
    • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    • Right-click (or Ctrl-click) on the list of printers on the left sidebar.
    • Select Reset printing system and confirm your choice. You will need to re-add your printer afterward.

Check Printer Settings

  • Ensure that the printer is set as the default printer on your computer.
  • Verify that there are no error messages or warnings displayed on the printer's control panel.

Factory Reset (Optional)

  • As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on your printer to restore it to its default settings. Note that this will erase all custom settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
