Hi @Doubledosekd,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP printer's jam light is on despite having no paper jam, and you only ran out of paper, try the following steps to resolve the issue.

Check for Residual Paper: Ensure there’s no small piece of paper or debris stuck inside the printer. Look inside the paper tray, the output tray, and any accessible areas.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check the Paper Tray:

  • Ensure the paper tray is properly seated and correctly aligned.
  • Reload paper and ensure it's properly stacked without any skewed or wrinkled sheets.

Reset the Printer:

  • Perform a factory reset if available in the printer settings or consult the printer’s manual for instructions.

Check for Error Messages:

  • Look for any specific error messages on the printer’s display or through your printer’s software on your computer.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer and apply it if needed.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Use the printer’s control panel or the HP Smart app to check for any settings related to paper jams or maintenance.

Perform a Manual Cleaning:

  • Gently clean the paper feed rollers with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
