Hi @Silvica,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you've replaced the ink cartridges in your HP Officejet 4630 printer and you're still receiving the message that the cartridges need to be replaced, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

Let's perform a power drain:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle

Update the printer firmware

  • Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your product
  • Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

  • Check Cartridge Installation: Make sure that the cartridges are installed correctly. Remove them and then reseat them firmly into their respective slots.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: Sometimes, the contacts on the cartridges or inside the printer can get dirty or covered in ink residue. Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water to gently clean the contacts on both the cartridges and inside the printer.
  • Restart Printer: Turn off your printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can usually update the firmware through the printer's settings menu or by visiting the HP website and downloading the latest firmware for your specific printer model.
  • Check for Ink Cartridge Expiry: Ensure that the ink cartridges you replaced are not expired. Cartridges have an expiration date, and if they are past their expiration, they may not be recognized by the printer.
  • Try Different Cartridges: If you have access to another set of compatible ink cartridges, try using them to see if the issue persists. This can help determine whether the problem lies with the cartridges themselves or with the printer.
  • Reset Printer: You can try resetting the printer to its default settings. Refer to your printer's manual or HP's website for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

Please follow the steps mentioned in this document: HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One Printer series

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
