Hi @mlopezwilliams

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I'm really sorry your printer is showing “Cannot Print”—it’s frustrating when everything seems ready but the job won’t go through.

Let’s walk through a few focused steps to help restore smooth printing.

Try these steps to resolve the “Cannot Print” message:

1. Power cycle the printer

This clears temporary faults and resets internal sensors.

  • Turn off the printer
  • Unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall
  • Wait 60 seconds
  • Plug it back in directly to a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors)
  • Turn the printer on and wait until it’s fully idle

2. Check for paper, ink, or cartridge issues

Even minor alerts can block printing.

  • Open the cartridge access door
  • Confirm both cartridges are installed and seated properly
  • Check for low ink warnings in the HP App
  • Load plain paper into the tray and ensure it’s aligned correctly

3. Clear the print queue

A stuck job can block new ones.

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers
  • Right-click your printer > See what’s printing
  • Cancel all pending jobs
  • Restart your computer and try printing again

4. Run Diagnose & Fix tool

This detects and resolves deeper software or connection issues.

  • Open the HP App
  • Select your printer
  • Go to Support > Diagnose & Fix
  • Follow the prompts while the printer is powered on and connected

5. Reinstall the printer software

Corrupted drivers can cause persistent errors.

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
  • Remove your printer
  • Restart your PC
  • Reinstall using the full software package from the HP Drivers Page

Let me know your printer model and whether the error appears on the screen or in the HP App. Once the connection and supplies are synced, your printer should respond instantly and print with confidence.
