Ordered new ink for a HP Color Laser Jet Pro M454dn, as usual, however this time once new black ink cartridge was replaced, printer is notifying us that cartridge is blocked for non HP chip. We have used this brand previously without an issue. Please provide assistance as we have a business to run.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you. 
I'm sorry to hear about the trouble with your printer. 
Here are a few steps you can try:

Disable Cartridge Protection:

  • On the printer’s display, navigate to the Setup menu.
  • Look for Printer Maintenance or Preferences.
  • Find the Cartridge Protection setting and disable it. 

Firmware Update:

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve compatibility issues. 
  • If the issue started after the firmware update, try downgrading (roll back) it. 

Reset the Printer:

  • Remove all cartridges from the printer.
  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the power source for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Plug it back in and power it on.
  • Reinsert the cartridges one by one

We strongly recommend you use HP cartridges.
