I have an HP OfficeJet printer model 5252> The printer worked fine at the end of 2024 because I was able to print off receipts. I have been trying to print off a file all day & it says that its offline. When I go through setting up the WiFi and put in my router password it says its connected. when I print out the page it tells me that it is disabled.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Hi @CrystalDK60,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet 5252 printer is having trouble maintaining its connection to your WiFi network. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Verify Printer Status

  1. Ensure your printer is powered on and has no error lights or messages.
  2. Check if the printer's wireless light is on or blinking. A solid blue light usually indicates a good connection, while blinking often means it's not connected.

Reconfirm Network Connection

  1. Print a Network Configuration Page:
    • On your printer, go to the Setup menu (gear icon) > Network Setup > Print Network Configuration Page.
  2. Look for:
    • Wireless Status: It should say Connected.
    • IP Address: Ensure it shows an address (e.g., 192.168.x.x) and not 0.0.0.0.
    • Disable Wireless: If it says Enabled, wireless is active; if Disabled, re-enable it from the printer's settings.

Reconnect the Printer to WiFi

  1. On the printer's touchscreen:
    • Go to Wireless Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard.
    • Select your WiFi network and enter the correct password.
  2. Once connected, print another Network Configuration Page to confirm the connection.

Check Printer's WiFi Band Compatibility

  • The HP OfficeJet 5252 supports only 2.4 GHz WiFi networks. Ensure your router's 2.4 GHz band is active, and the printer is connected to it. If your router uses a combined SSID for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, separate them temporarily.

Check Printer Status on Computer

  1. On your computer:
    • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers (or Printers & Scanners).
    • Find your printer and ensure it is not set to offline:
      • Right-click the printer > Select See What's Printing > Uncheck Use Printer Offline if selected.
  2. If the printer is still not responding, delete and reinstall it:
    • Remove the printer from the list.
    • Add the printer back, ensuring you select the correct network printer.

Restart Devices

  1. Turn off your printer, computer, and router.
  2. Restart the router, wait for it to fully power up.
  3. Turn on the printer and computer, then check if the connection is restored.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Outdated firmware can cause connectivity issues.
    • Visit the HP Support Website to download and install the latest firmware for your OfficeJet 5252.

Test Using HP Smart App

  1. Install the HP Smart App on your device (if not already installed).
  2. Use the app to add the printer and check its status.

Note:

  • Router Settings: Ensure the router's settings do not block the printer (e.g., MAC filtering or firewall settings).
  • Static IP Address: Assigning a static IP to your printer can help maintain its connection.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
