Hello - thanks for your response.  Unfortunately, I had already tried those solutions, to no avail.  i am using the correct HP cartridge, and have now bought two new ones. The color cartridge works fine.  The black cartridge reads (and prints) as empty.

Has anyone else had this issue before?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
