Hi @Hernandeza,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP DeskJet 2710 All-in-One Printer is not reading the 67 black ink cartridge and showing an error, here are steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Verify Cartridge Compatibility
- Ensure the cartridge is 67 black and is compatible with the HP DeskJet 2710 printer.
- Check if the cartridge is genuine HP, as third-party cartridges may cause errors.
2. Inspect the Cartridge
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Remove the cartridge from the printer.
- Inspect the cartridge for:
- Protective tape still attached to the electrical contacts or nozzles (remove it if present).
- Ink residue or dust on the contacts (clean gently with a lint-free cloth and distilled water).
- Any visible damage to the cartridge.
3. Inspect the Printer
- Check inside the cartridge slot for any debris or obstructions.
- Clean the electrical contacts in the cartridge slot with a clean, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water.
4. Reset the Printer
- With the cartridge removed, unplug the printer from the power source for about 2 minutes.
- Plug the printer back in, turn it on, and reinstall the cartridge.
5. Reinstall the Cartridge
- Insert the cartridge firmly into the correct slot, ensuring it clicks into place.
- Make sure you are using the black cartridge slot.
6. Update the Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- If the issue persists, connect the printer to your computer.
- Use the HP Smart app or visit the HP website to check for firmware updates.
7. Test with Another Cartridge
- If you have a spare or new HP 67 black cartridge, test it in the printer to rule out a faulty cartridge.
8. Perform a Printer Reset
- Turn off the printer.
- Disconnect all cables (including power) for 2-3 minutes.
- Reconnect the power cable and turn on the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
