To set a fixed IP address one has to log into the modem and configure the HDCP to exclude the printer from arbitrary IP assignment. This can be difficult. It is easier to use the hostname of the printer. The following procedure will work on windows.

The printer needs to be online and you need to obtain the hostname. You can do this from the printer by asking for a network or status report. If the hostname is not listed then there should be an IP4 address. If the IP4 address is 192.168.1.120 then you can obtain the hostname using the windows administrator command prompt and entering the following command.

nslookup 192.168.1.120

The hostname NPI40CB07.attlocal.net can be used to access the printer even if the IP address of the printer changes.

You can use the control panel to set the location of the printer

It may be sleeping and if woken up it may not have the same IP address that it had when it was last connected to the modem.

Easy fix for sleep is not let it sleep. Log into the printer web address and set sleep to off or never

You can get the IP or web address from the PC or just get a network report from the printer.

You may want to set the IP address of the printer to be fixed so it gets the same one every time it is turned on.

Log into the modem and look for the IP4 address given by the network report and make it fixed.   This is needed if you have a mesh system or several wifi boosters.

Let me know if you need help re-connecting the WiFi

Hi BeemerBiker,

Thank you for your response. But my printer is set for 2 hours for Auto off and it cannot be configured.

"The Auto-Off setting is preset and cannot be configured."

Also, the energy saving mode has the option of 15 mins max.

Please advice.
